Terra-Cotta Pot DIY…

herbs in pots

I love terra-cotta but not new looking. Here is an easy way to make a new terracotta pot (below) look weathered (above).

You will need:
a terra-cotta pot
powdered Lime (you can find it at your local garden center for around $3)
water bottle
water
paint brush
spray Polyurethane

1. Mix 1 cup of lime to 2 cups of warm water
2. With your paint brush paint the whole pot with the Lime. Paint some areas more concentrated than others.
3. While it is still wet spray some spots and allow the water to run down the pot .
4. Let it dry.
5. With a paper towel wipe off leaving some areas more concentrated than others.
6. Lightly spray with Polyurethane. Don’t completely coat it.
7. Let dry for about 5 minutes then while it is lightly sticky take some dry Lime and rub it lightly on the pot.
Now you have aged terra-cotta pots!
